DVD ~ "The List" (GIVEAWAY!)

Gary Wheeler is a multi-award winning North Carolina filmmaker who has produced a number of motion picture and television productions around the world. He is the founder and President of Level Path Productions and makes his home in Boone, North Carolina.

Two of Gary’s recent projects are Final Solution, a critically acclaimed theatrical release shot in South Africa starring Tony Award winner John Kani (The Ghost and the Darkness) and Midnight Clear, a Christmas Special starring Stephen Baldwin (The Usual Suspects).

Gary teamed up with Robert Whitlow, one of my favorite authors to write, produce, and direct The List.

With news of the defeat at Gettysburg ringing in their ears, a group of wealthy Confederate landowners meet on a stormy night to form a secret blood covenant to protect their families' fortunes. One man refuses to sign, uttering a dark prophecy against the dangers of greed and black magic. Ignoring the warning, the men pool their gold in a desperate attempt to smuggle their treasures to Europe.

140 years later, Renny Jacobson, a young Charlotte lawyer, is shaken by news of his father's mysterious death. Although they were never close, the young man is stunned to discover that his father has left his substantial estate to charity, leaving his son with nothing but a reference to an obscure entity called "the Covenant List of South Carolina, Ltd."

In an unexpected and thrilling climax, Renny finds that he must fulfill the prophecy spoken in 1863 and destroy the power of The List - or risk losing the true treasure that has changed his life.

I must say it was refreshing to watch this drama, complete with suspense, intrigue, romance, and the struggle between good and evil. “Refreshing?” you ask. This movie accomplishes all these aspects, while being wholesome and triumphant over the darkness. It’s not one of those thrillers where you come away with a disturbing feeling. Instead, you experience the twists and turns of the exciting plot, and come away knowing the power of good. The List presents a Christian world view, without being preachy, or (dare I say it?)… cheesy! The acting and production quality is top-notch, and we really enjoyed Malcom McDowell as the lead antagonist role.

When Judd and I read The List a while ago, we said it would make a great movie, and Gary lived up to our expectations.
